Dubai Police Finally (Maybe) Put Their Supercars To The Test, Bust 81 Cars For Street Racing

<b><u>What, did they take down Dominic Toretto or something?</u></b><br />
<br />
The Dubai police force is known for having some really, really badass cars. However, the majority of its coolest rides exist merely for promotional purposes. But we have to think that at least one of its supercars was involved in a massive takedown of street racers that happened recently. The Dubai police impounded 81 vehicles for the crime of “reckless driving.” If that sounds like a harsh punishment, well just wait until you hear how reckless these guys were driving. It wasn’t quite hagwalah but it sounds damn close to it.<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The cars were driven as high as 186 mph, with the license plates removed to fool police. In another attempt to fool cops, or just to look like total badasses, some of the cars were driven at night without the headlights on. While we don’t know what kind of cars were impounded—motorcycles were also taken—we know that they must have been fast if 186 mph was the speed some of them touched.Fast probably means expensive too, which is good as these cars won’t be cheap to free from the impound lot. The cost to release a car is $27,000 and for a motorcycle it's $13,000. Vehicles not retrieved within three months can legally be auctioned off.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
In our minds this crackdown involved a dramatic chase or two with a Veyron in hot pursuit of a modded GT-R. But in real life what probably happened was a lot different, say cops just towing cars while helpless owners asked officers if they knew who their father was. If the latter is indeed what happened then we hope the cops at least showed up in one of their awesome cars, just to rub these reckless drivers noses in it a bit.</div>

How Horse power works on Autos

Chances are you've heard about horsepower. Just about every car ad on TV mentions it, people talking about their cars bandy the word about and even most lawn mowers have a big sticker on them to tell you the horsepower rating.<br />
<br />
But what is horsepower, and what does the horsepower rating mean in terms of performance? In this article, you'll learn exactly what horsepower is and how you can apply it to your everyday life.<br />
<br />
The term horsepower was invented by the engineer James Watt. Watt lived from 1736 to 1819 and is most famous for his work on improving the performance of steam engines. We are also reminded of him every day when we talk about 60-watt light bulbs.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhN3Zf7UHc0hMom85n-Nr15JZkt3n3pMIov6k6npwXGG12u3gHQEzaLZ1QMRVjZYF7Da6lJkQHL_ZKblztifHRhQ2OmlNugboSO1Gx_9pXbhZUzOjjGQ2uWzoYvhUnw9kWkclQpsbhSSme8/s1600/drag-race.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="197" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhN3Zf7UHc0hMom85n-Nr15JZkt3n3pMIov6k6npwXGG12u3gHQEzaLZ1QMRVjZYF7Da6lJkQHL_ZKblztifHRhQ2OmlNugboSO1Gx_9pXbhZUzOjjGQ2uWzoYvhUnw9kWkclQpsbhSSme8/s320/drag-race.jpg" width="320" /></a> </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Two high horse power dodge challengers line up for a drag race. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The story goes that Watt was working with ponies lifting coal at a coal mine, and he wanted a way to talk about the power available from one of these animals. He found that, on average, a mine pony could do 22,000 foot-pounds of work in a minute. He then increased that number by 50 percent and pegged the measurement of horsepower at 33,000 foot-pounds of work in one minute. It is that arbitrary unit of measure that has made its way down through the centuries and now appears on your car, your lawn mower, your chain saw and even in some cases your vacuum cleaner.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjEZ2hmVZHBuoSN-Jczz4P23SIpg9ytRGKddk-JNQ3DN2VIGriWijM8BvtrCEz1-GdTN5mip8cBXDeo_JY241chvcj0sjhP6dgMuJUpg8Zj9lUfG8gJcilIfVOVHP3NYJNQO7XFrE5KdYaB/s1600/horsepower1.gif" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="263" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjEZ2hmVZHBuoSN-Jczz4P23SIpg9ytRGKddk-JNQ3DN2VIGriWijM8BvtrCEz1-GdTN5mip8cBXDeo_JY241chvcj0sjhP6dgMuJUpg8Zj9lUfG8gJcilIfVOVHP3NYJNQO7XFrE5KdYaB/s320/horsepower1.gif" width="320" /></a></div>
B<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
What horsepower means is this: In Watt's judgement, one horse can do 33,000 foot-pounds of work every minute. So, imagine a horse raising coal out of a coal mine as shown above. A horse exerting 1 horsepower can raise 330 pounds of coal 100 feet in a minute, or 33 pounds of coal 1,000 feet in one minute, or 1,000 pounds 33 feet in one minute. You can make up whatever combination of feet and pounds you like. As long as the product is 33,000 foot-pounds in one minute, you have a horsepower.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
You can probably imagine that you would not want to load 33,000 pounds of coal in the bucket and ask the horse to move it 1 foot in a minute because the horse couldn't budge that big a load. You can probably also imagine that you would not want to put 1 pound of coal in the bucket and ask the horse to run 33,000 feet in one minute, since that translates into 375 miles per hour and horses can't run that fast. However, if you have read How a Block and Tackle Works, you know that with a block and tackle you can easily trade perceived weight for distance using an arrangement of pulleys. So you could create a block and tackle system that puts a comfortable amount of weight on the horse at a comfortable speed no matter how much weight is actually in the bucket.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Horsepower can be converted into other units as well. For example:</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
1 horsepower is equivalent to 746 watts. So if you took a 1-horsepower horse and put it on a treadmill, it could operate a generator producing a continuous 746 watts.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
1 horsepower (over the course of an hour) is equivalent to 2,545 BTU (British thermal units). If you took that 746 watts and ran it through an electric heater for an hour, it would produce 2,545 BTU (where a BTU is the amount of energy needed to raise the temperature of 1 pound of water 1 degree F).</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
One BTU is equal to 1,055 joules, or 252 gram-calories or 0.252 food Calories. Presumably, a horse producing 1 horsepower would burn 641 Calories in one hour if it were 100-percent efficient.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
In this article, you'll learn all about horsepower and what it means. </div>

Glo June 2016 pocket friendly data plans...

Glo data plansare the cheapest in Nigeria”.I’m sure you must have heard that statement somewhere, from someone.You haven’t?Ok. I am telling you now thatGlo internet bundlesare the cheapest in Nigeria at the moment.Even afterMTN data plans(as well as other mobile network providers’ bundles) saw a dramatic increase in data allocation over the past few weeks,Glo mobile’s internet subscriptionstill remains the most pocket-friendly in Nigeria (so far).Cheap. Cheap. Cheap. How cheap?LOL. We talking up to 6GB of data for just ₦2k. There’s also the mad option of getting 18GB for ₦4k.It’s not a joke, and so far there’s been no catch.No catch in the sense that data consumption rates are normal, and the plans (yes all the plans in this article) can be used on any internet enabled device of your choice.Be it an IPad, an Android smartphone, an IPhone, your internet modem, a PSPconsole, even a calculatorjust so long as it can access the internet.Ok, I’m tired of talking let’s just have the subscription codes and go.Best GLO Data Plans in Nigeria at theMomentJust like I did forother plans, the plans in this article will be categorized by validity periods, so here we go.GLO Daily Internet BundlesPlans in this category are the best in Nigeria at the moment. Think I’m wrong? Just see for yourself;1.30MB for ₦50Ok, Globacom is high!Not too long ago, I was jubilating that“almighty MTN” bumped up the data allocated to their ₦100 day plan and GLO just made it seem like peanuts!For just ₦50, you get 30MB allocated to you to surf the internet for 24hours.This plan is just perfect for those times when you are out of airtime (anddata) and really need to get something done ASAP.To opt-in,Dial*127*14#OrText “14” to 1271.100MB for ₦100Who remembers the time when one used to get this same amount of datafor a thousand naira?Chai! Those times were really horrible.For ₦100, Glo gives you 100MB to browse the internet for a whole day.To subscribe,Dial*127*51#OrText “51” to 1271.200MB for ₦200More like an extension of the two previous plans, you can now get 200MBinternet data allocated to you for just₦200. Unlike plan 1 and 2, this one is valid for 3 good days.To get this plan,Dial*127*56#OrText “56” to 127GLO Weekly Internet BundlesThere are two plans highlighted onGlo’s official website, but only one ofthem is actually worth being on this article.1.1GB for ₦500Airteland MTN offers 750MB for this same amount, but GLO thinks you deserve more than that.Valid for over a week (10 days actually), you get 1GB Internet surfingdata when you pay GLO ₦500 for theirbig week plan.To subscribe,Dial*127*57#OrText “57” to 127GLO Monthly Internet BundlesOk, this is where the ice breaks.Data plans here are no joke. I’m deadsure data resellers in Nigeria would be looking for another business model at the moment or they could offer unlimited data for pennies (that would be the only reasonable option).I talk too much. Just see the bundles;1.2GB for ₦1,000This is not a joke, it actually works. On Glo, you get 2GB data allocated toyou for ₦1,000 (0.5GB higher than what you’ll get elsewhere).This plan would be convenient for most“regular” internet users (I’m thinking about my Mom right now) as the pricing is almost perfect.Valid for 30 days, this bundle is one you should be using if you are on GLO and you’re a light internet user.To opt-in;Dial*127*53#OrText “53” to 1271.6GB for ₦2,000*laughing hysterically*GLO just killed their Blackberry comonth plan with this – if not for you, at least for me (there’s no way I’m subscribing to that piece of sh*t any longer).At ₦2,000 GLO offers you an enormous 6GB of internet goodness which is valid for 30 good days!Look:If GLO Mobile’s internet service is solid in your locality, then this is by all means the plan to subscribe for on your smartphone.But wait:Before you start recharging, have a look at the next plan. I’m promising you, just reading about it will make your day.To get 6GB @ ₦2k,Dial*127*55#OrText “55” to 1271.10GB for ₦2,500Just adding ₦500 to the amount you pay for plan 6 gives you an additional 4GB!Shey I told you this would make your day?This plan like the other is only valid for 30 days, so if you are a heavy internet user (on a smartphone), this should by all means be your sub.To get this plan,Dial*127*58#OrText “58” to 1271.12GB for ₦3,000This one’s gonna be my honey, or no, I think the next plan will be.Power internet users with good GLO coverage in your area, this is yours.For ₦3,000 you could be 12GB internet data richer for 30 days.To opt-in,Dial*127*54#OrText “54” to 1271.18GB for ₦4,000I don’t know who is in charge of the “data allocation department” in GLO,but that folk deserves a candy.Small scale internet business owners/Bloggers, what more could you ask for?Except connectivity is bad in your area,I see no other logical reason why this should not be the plan to go for.Also valid for 30 days, you are allocated 18 wonderful Gigabytes of internet awesomeness for just ₦4kTo get this,Dial*127*59#OrText “59” to 127.I’m tired of ranting.There are still more awesome Glo monthly data plans (like 90GB for ₦18k), but to be honest I don’t knowwhat to type around them so please pardon me and consume the summary below;PlanValidityOpt-in Code24GB @ ₦5,00030 days*127*2#48GB @ ₦8,00030 days*127*1#60GB @ ₦15,00030 days*127*12#90GB @ ₦18,00030 days*127*13#GLO Night and Weekend Plans1GB for ₦200 (One night stand)This is by far, one of the cheapest among its peers, but with such a mouthwatering price, there are perks.This plan works only at night (from 12am – 5am) for just one night!This plan is for nocturnal folks (I’m proudly one) who want to GTD and move on.To subscribe,Dial*127*60#OrSMS “60” to “127”3GB for ₦500 (7 nights + full weekend)Of all the sub-₦500 plans, this is the one I use and recommend.Here’s the deal:For ₦500, you get allocated 3GB of data for an entire week, but there arerestrictions.On weekdays (Mon – Fri), the plan only works at night (12am – 5am), butfor Saturdays and Sundays, the plan works 24hours.Remember though:The plan is only valid for a week!To subscribe,Dial*127*61#OrSMS “61” to “127”Summing up, these are all the plans listed in this article;PlanValidityOpt-in CodeGlo Daily Data Plans30MB @ ₦501 day*127*14#100MB @ ₦1001 day*127*51#200MB @ ₦2003 days*127*56#Glo Weekly Data Plans1GB @ ₦50010 days*127*57#Glo Monthly Data Plans2GB @ ₦1,00030 days*127*53#6GB @ ₦2,00030 days*127*55#10GB @ ₦2,50030 days*127*58#12GB @ ₦3,00030 days*127*54#18GB @ ₦4,00030 days*127*59#24GB @ ₦5,00030 days*127*2#48GB @ ₦8,00030 days*127*1#60GB @ ₦15,00030 days*127*12#90GB @ ₦18,00030 days*127*13#Glo Night and Weekend Plans1GB @ ₦2001 night*127*60#3GB @ ₦5007 nights + weekend*127*61#
